Iluka Motel is one of the ultimate bases to exploring the amazing Clarence Valley & Northern Rivers Region.

Starting with the unspoilt village of Iluka itself, our motel is perfectly nestled in the centre of Iluka on the main street of town. Stroll down the street to the beautiful Clarence River & Iluka Bay 150 metres away, and follow the footpaths along for some breathtaking views whilst walking or riding your bike. If you are lucky you may even get to experience one of our amazing sunsets over the water. Easy access to cafes and local shops on our doorstep, or wander around the corner to Club Iluka - the local bowling club with a Chinese restaurant. Our one and only supermarket is just a block away. Take an easy walk or short drive 500m to Sedgers Reef Hotel, and a 2 minute drive to Iluka Golf Club. For the adventurous a 10 minute walk will lead you to the start of the World Heritage Listed Rainforest Walk to The Bluff Lookout (2.5km distance one way). Iluka township is surrounded by secluded beaches, some 4wd accessible.

Iluka township is a leisurely half an hour drive or ferry ride to neighboring town Yamba, 25 minutes drive to Maclean - Scottish Town of Australia, 45 minutes drive from Grafton, 1 hour drive to Ballina, and 1 ½ hours drive to Byron Bay.

Iluka Markets

The Iluka Markets are held on the first Sunday of every month. 8am start for the bargain enthusiast. Located on the sports fields adjacent to Iluka Motel.

Bundjalung National Park - Wildlife/Bird Watching

Full of natural beauty and wildlife Bundjalung National Park is the ideal place for bird watching and nature walks.

Starting at Evans Head and spans 38km to Iluka.

Fishing

Iluka’s claim to fame, well known as a top spot for recreational fishing. Offering several accessible boat ramps, or for the land based fisho you’ve got it all from rock hopping, beach fishing, river spinning, or just sitting on a jetty catching a feed. For fresh local fish and seafood visit Clarence Valley Seafoods or the Fish Co-Op.

Clarence River Ferry

The Clarence River Ferries operate a regular daily passenger ferry service between Yamba & Iluka. They also offer a historical river cruise Wednesdays, and a live music cruise Sundays to Harwood. Timetables are available from reception, or visit their website.

Sport / Recreation

For a small town Iluka boasts excellent sporting facilties including a 9 hole golf course, bowling greens, croquet club, a rowing club, and a sports oval with adjacent tennis courts.

Surfing / Snorkling / Swimming

There are excellent surfing & swimming beaches, including a netted area in Iluka Bay. Surfing is best adjacent to the break wall, or at Iluka Bluff. Be sure to pack the snorkeling gear and head out to Woody Head to explore the rock pools. Hire a stand up paddle board or kayak from AAA Kayak Tours for the extra adventurous.

World Heritage Rainforest Walk to The Bluff

Iluka Rainforest walking track takes you on an easy stroll through lush rainforest. Unpack a picnic when you arrive at Iluka Bluff in Bundjalung National Park and enjoy stunning views and a swim. Walk up to the viewing platform for spectacular ocean views, and maybe see a whale or 2 in migration times.

Beaches & 4WD Access

If you are the 4wd enthusiast, or just love beach fishing there is 4wd access at Main Beach and Shark Bay (10 Mile Beach). A permit is required for both.

Museum

Iluka museum is a volunteer organization which promotes understanding of the unique history of the area. The museum is open Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning. The displays range from the early River Training Scheme, Old Iluka Railway, the Old Iluka Picture Show, to boating & fishing of the past.
